Little Bear’s Floral Umbrella
Mama Bear bought Little Bear a small floral umbrella. The floral umbrella was really beautiful! It was yellow with purple hydrangea flowers all over it.
The umbrella’s surface was very smooth and shiny, and there was a small bell tied to the handle. Little Bear hopped and skipped with his floral umbrella, and the little bell jingled with a clear and pleasant sound.
Little Bear loved his floral umbrella so much! The first thing he did every morning after waking up was run out of the big tree hole to see if it was raining outside.
On the first day, Mr. Sun smiled at him.
On the second day, Mr. Sun’s face was half-covered by a white cloud, and the cloud was really white!
On the third day, the sky was overcast, and dark clouds hung low, as if it was really going to rain. Even the little ants on the ground were moving anxiously in a line, relocating their home. “It’s going to rain! It’s going to rain!”
Little Bear quickly took out his floral umbrella, opened it with a “pop,” and joyfully spun around on the grass. The little bell happily sang as if saying,
“Rain, rain, come quickly!”
Soon, it really started to rain. Raindrops pitter-pattered on the floral umbrella, as if singing along with the little bell. Little Bear ran and jumped in the rain with his umbrella, feeling very happy!
Suddenly, Little Bear saw the little ants still on their way moving their home. They were lined up, carrying food and climbing up a small hill.
Raindrops were hitting the ground, soaking it quickly; many raindrops made the ground wet and muddy, making it harder for the ants to move forward. Some ants were almost washed away by the rainwater.
Little Bear put his opened floral umbrella on the ground to shield the ants from the rain and ran to the tree hole entrance, watching them carefully.
After a while, the ants were about to crawl out from under the umbrella, so Little Bear quickly ran over in the rain and moved the floral umbrella forward a bit. In this way, the floral umbrella moved again and again, protecting the ants until they finally reached their high-ground home safely.
Little Bear looked at them, then at his own fur, soaked through, and smiled.
