The Sweetest Candy
Children’s Day was approaching, and every child in Strawberry Village had the same dream: a Smurf invited them to Thomas Train Station the day before Children’s Day to take the Elf Train to Calabash Island. Upon arrival, the Smurf would distribute various candies to each child.
The children of Strawberry Village believed this dream must be real. The next day, they went to Thomas Train Station and boarded the train. With a gentle breeze blowing, the train slowly started, crossing Crocodile Creek, passing through vast wheat fields, and sliding past high cliffs. They could vaguely see the Smurfs on Calabash Island dancing enthusiastically to welcome them.
“Look, tall trees and beautiful fairy lakes! We must be close to Calabash Island!” the children exclaimed excitedly.
At that moment, Kiki the monkey clutched his stomach and cried out, “Ouch, it hurts so much!”
“What’s wrong?”
“Where does it hurt?”
Rabbit Lala blurted out, “Is the monkey going to die?” This startled everyone.
“It’s not that serious. Maybe he ate something bad,” comforted Cotton the goat.
“Did you eat something wrong?” Deer Gao asked seriously.
Kiki the monkey nodded painfully, then shook his head, sweat pouring from his face.
“We should find a doctor for the monkey,” suggested Cotton the goat, reminding everyone.
“Let’s take him to the hospital,” said Deer Gao, carrying Kiki on his back.
“Are we going back? Are we not going to Calabash Island?” Rabbit Lala asked, worry in her eyes.
“If we don’t go to Calabash Island, we won’t meet the Smurfs; without meeting the Smurfs, we won’t get the various candies he’s going to distribute,” voiced a child, echoing everyone’s concerns.
“I’ll go back myself. You all continue to Calabash Island,” said Kiki the monkey, pretending to be okay.
“No, we came together, so we’ll go back together,” Deer Gao said firmly.
“Yes, we’ll go back together.”
The next day after they returned home, before dawn, Deer Gao heard a knock at the door.
“Who is it?”
“It’s me, the Smurf. I’ve come to bring candy for everyone!”
“Oh? The Smurf!” Deer Gao quickly opened the door but found no Smurf. Instead, there was a big bag of candy at the door.
“This must be the candy the Smurf wanted to give to the children.” Deer Gao took the candy and distributed it to each child. The children savored the sweetest candy, enjoying every bite.
