The Misdelivered Roses
July, a beautiful and youthful girl. Her life, like others, was mundane and dull. But it was that bouquet of flowers that broke the monotony of her life.
“Is anyone there? Delivery!” a deep female voice called. July opened the door, and what greeted her eyes was a bouquet of fiery red roses. July asked, “Who sent them?” The female postal worker checked the receipt and said a name that shocked July: “Li Hui.” What? That bastard Li Hui sent them? Return them! Just as July was about to refuse the delivery, June ran over and hugged the bouquet, saying, “Sister, can I have them, please?” July smiled helplessly and gave the flowers to June.
From that day on, the roses never stopped coming, one bouquet every day.
Until the arrival of the Nth bouquet, the female postal worker said, “Girl, that handsome guy must be your boyfriend, right? He’s so good to you! Haha.” July blushed, took the roses, and walked into her bedroom.
A young girl’s heart began to stir.
One evening, during a heavy rain, July gathered the courage to call Li Hui. “Hello, this is July. Is this Li Hui?” “Yes, it is. What’s up?” Li Hui answered. “Um… I can accept you, Li Hui,” July said, her face turning red.
“What? Are you out of your mind?” Li Hui was puzzled. “You’re too much! You even gave me a bouquet today, and now you’re backing out!” July was slightly angry. Li Hui suddenly understood, “Oh, so the roses ended up with you! That stupid postal worker made a mistake! It’s not your fault…”
July didn’t wait for him to finish and lost control. How could this be? They were sent to the wrong person? No, no! July ran out the door in a frenzy. “Sister, where are you going?” June asked. There was no time.
July slipped on the street (the rain was pouring), and a truck roared past. “Sister!!!!” June cried…
July stopped breathing on the operating table. It was the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, the Qixi Festival. It was also July’s birthday.
July, the innocent July.
