Ah Xi Tu’s Delicious Soup

Rabbit Ah Xi, known to everyone as Ah Xi Tu.

Ah Xi Tu’s mother fell ill with a high fever, coughing and sneezing. Dr. Pelican came to give her an injection, which reduced her fever and stopped the sneezing and coughing, but she still felt weak and had no appetite.

Ah Xi Tu made porridge for his mother, but she didn’t want to drink it. He also learned from Miss Hedgehog next door how to make a fruit stew. He cut apples and pears into small pieces, added bananas and red dates, and made the fruit stew. Ah Xi Tu thought it smelled sweet and tasted great; he drank three big bowls himself, but his mother didn’t want any. Ah Xi Tu was at a loss.

His mother needed to eat to regain her strength and recover quickly. But what could she eat? Ah Xi Tu asked Miss Hedgehog for ideas, but they couldn’t think of anything.

Looking at the telephone on the table, Ah Xi Tu suddenly exclaimed, “I’ve got it! We have a phone!”

“Are you going to cook the phone for your mother?” Miss Hedgehog didn’t understand why Ah Xi Tu was so excited.

“No, the phone can tell me what my mother likes to eat.”

“How will it do that?”

“I can call Grandma!” Ah Xi Tu quickly dialed the number and asked his grandmother, “Grandma, Mom is sick, but she’s getting better. You don’t need to worry. I just want to ask: what did Mom like to eat when she was a child? She has no appetite now.” Grandma talked a lot over the phone, and Ah Xi Tu listened carefully. As soon as he hung up, he asked Miss Hedgehog for help.

They cut carrots into chunks, sliced fresh mushrooms, shredded onions, added various seasonings, and cooked a fragrant pot of soup. When his mother woke up, she said, “What smells so good? This scent is very familiar!”

“Really?” Ah Xi Tu and Miss Hedgehog exclaimed in surprise.

Ah Xi Tu served a bowl of soup to his mother. She took a sip and said, “This soup is delicious!”

“Really?” Ah Xi Tu and Miss Hedgehog said happily.

After finishing the soup, his mother smacked her lips and said, “The taste is so fresh!”

“Really?” Ah Xi Tu and Miss Hedgehog said excitedly.

Ah Xi Tu served her another bowl, and as she drank, she said, “I used to drink this soup a lot when I was a child. It’s my favorite.”

“Really?” Ah Xi Tu and Miss Hedgehog looked at each other and burst out laughing. “Hey, how did you make this soup? It was my mother’s, Ah Xi’s grandmother’s, best recipe. I haven’t had it in years.”

“Really?” Seeing Ah Xi Tu’s eyes sparkle, Miss Hedgehog couldn’t help but laugh. She said, “Ah Xi’s mom, that’s a secret you’ll have to guess!”
