The Chili Train Story
There are real trains that run on tracks and toy trains that run inside houses.
One day, a red chili train came running out of a vegetable field. The chili train was made up of 10 chili kids holding hands: one chili kid as the engine and nine chili kids as the carriages.
At first, the chili train wobbled and looked like it might fall over. This was because the 10 chili kids were not well-practiced, and their steps were uneven.
“One, two, one,” they chanted in unison as they walked, and the train became more stable. They practiced and practiced, and eventually, they could make the train run fast and smoothly without chanting the commands.
“Choo choo,” the red chili train ran along the paths in the fields. When it encountered passengers, the train would stop with a “screech.” After the passengers bought their tickets and sat down, the train would continue on its way.
Each carriage could hold one passenger. “One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine,” now the train was full of passengers.
A caterpillar wanted to visit a friend in the tree. “Choo choo,” the chili train climbed up the tree trunk.
A pea wanted to play in the city. “Choo choo,” the chili train went through a tunnel, across a plain, and soon arrived in the city.
A ladybug wanted to drink water by the river. “Choo choo,” the chili train raced to the river. But “splash,” the chili train couldn’t stop in time and plunged into the river. Fortunately, the passengers could all swim and together they pulled the chili train back to the shore.
After drying off in the warm sunshine, the chili train was back on the road.
“Choo choo,” where was the chili train headed this time? It went down into the dark underground because the earthworm needed to hurry home.
Later, there were many magical stories about the chili train. One story said that once, the chili train climbed up a green vine all the way to the sky and took a star that had fallen to Earth back to its home.
