Mimi the Rabbit’s Dream
Mimi the rabbit wanted to become an outstanding painter.
Early in the morning, while the dewdrops were still swinging on the tips of the grass, Mimi came to the meadow, spread out her drawing board, and began to paint: the fiery red sun rising from the sea, the warm sunlight shining on the blue ocean…
“Oh, Mimi, you’re so diligent,” said the little bird.
“Dear Mimi, you will definitely become a famous painter,” said the little tree.
“Wow, Mimi, your painting is so beautiful!” said the grass.
…
Mimi happily said, “Thank you all for the compliments, I will definitely work hard!”
The “I Am a Little Painter” competition in the forest began, and Mimi went to the competition full of hope.
“Dear Mimi, I am cheering for you,” said Mimi’s mom.
“Mom, don’t worry, I won’t let you down,” said Mimi.
There were many contestants participating in the competition. Besides Mimi, there were also the Big-Tailed Dog, the Black-Eared Cat, the Little Squirrel, the Flower-Backed Duck, and others. The famous painter, Giraffe, said to everyone, “Today’s painting theme is ‘Hope’. Please begin.”
The competition started, and everyone was painting very seriously. Mimi was also very confident. She painted a lively meadow where her friends were happily flying kites.
After the competition, Mimi said to her mom, “Mom, don’t worry, I will definitely win the ‘Little Painter’ honor!”
Soon, the results were announced, and Mimi did not win.
Mimi was very sad. She hid in her room, not talking, not eating, and not sleeping.
“Sweetie, let me tell you a story, okay?” said Mimi’s mom as she entered Mimi’s room. “There was a happy pearl oyster living in the ocean. Once, a grain of sand got inside when it opened its shells, and the oyster felt very uncomfortable. For a while, it almost lost the will to live. Grandpa Sea told the oyster, ‘Child, you must persevere. The grain of sand inside you might turn into a beautiful treasure.’ The oyster listened to Grandpa Sea and regained its spirit, bravely facing life. Day by day, time passed. One day, when the oyster opened its shells again, a nearby dolphin exclaimed, ‘Ah, a pearl!’ It turned out that the grain of sand inside the oyster had turned into a pearl.”
“Mom, what does the oyster’s story have to do with my competition failure?” Mimi asked.
Mimi’s mom smiled and said, “The oyster lived bravely and turned the grain of sand into a beautiful pearl. If you can also face failure bravely, then one day, this failure will become as beautiful as a pearl.”
Mimi understood her mom’s words. She picked up her drawing board and said, “Mom, I’m going out to paint. Please make something delicious for when I come back.”
Mimi went to the meadow again, spread out her drawing board, and began to paint. This time, she painted a beautiful sea with many beautiful shells on the beach…
